Life gets busy!

Posted on September 18, 2017 at 5:56pm 2 Comments

I have been trying to stay caught up with you all. when the wood is in and the garden is done and preserved. various other "need to get done before snow flies" projects. I will be painting more, and paying more attention to all my friends here on Karen's site.

I did enter 5 paintings in the local country fair this year. I will try to post them here. It is exciting to have folks appreciate my art :)

I entered 5 paintings in the local country fair exhibition hall. I got 2 blue ribbons, 2 red ribbons, and one white ribbon. That felt really nice ☺

I have the feeling that I am choosing the wrong things for me to paint. I am going to be more selective. and I think Michel has the right idea. get outside and train my painters eyes, to really see the light, dark, and real color of things! I am making a plan!

thanks Pauline Abbott, Karen Ilari, and this community!

I read Paulines post about doing the color charts. I thought it a great idea. I did three of mine today. then I finished a painting, that has been half done for a month. my new color charts made it seem easier somehow. thanks :)  Karen Ilari, this is a wonderful site. you are a great teacher and you have collected a lot of amazing, creative, and kind folks here. I feel at home, welcome, and encouraged. I loved the challenge! it made me think and work at painting every day. I looked at the…

Hi Wenda....thanks for the comment on my blue door. It's not that I don't want to share my watercolour paintings, I just thought that since this is an acrylic site I should be posting more of them. And thank you for saying you are interested in my wc art. Cheers, Wanda

Thank you Wendy Spooner for inviting me to this nice community. I've done 2 color charts. One was too small but it got me to be very careful. The second wasn't much bigger but better to see the colors than with the first one. I did use a different brand for the second one, as well. I'm learning about mediums; I've got the Gloss Medium and the Matte Medium and I'm trying them both. I've never painted before but my brother was a fantastic artist. His very first oil painting was a master piece. I already know that I won't be that good but I know that if he were able to look down and see me trying to do my best then he'd be happy.
So, I'm working on my first painting and making tons of mistakes but I won't give in. I'll keep going until it's done. I'm learning from my mistakes and I'm trying to fix the mistakes. Some were easier than others to fix. I've got quite a ways to go but I am having lots of fun learning and it is soothing, relaxing and fun. Thank you again for inviting me to this wonderful community of artist and friends. Good day to you all.

Hi Wendy

Thank you for the nice comment  on my photo.  I will make an  attempt to paint that sunrise, but right now I'm working on some the other paintings. Please help yourself to the photo reference.
