"I guess we all share the same painting on the wall. I look at them once in a while and sometimes i do rework them too. You have done a great job with color. When i look at the tree, i kind of expect a rabbit to jump around!"

Profile Information

How long have you been painting? Doing any kind of art?
30+ years Mostly landscape and started portraits last year. I am now trying to paint using the painting knife only.
What other mediums have you used?
Tried pastels but did not like it
Are their specific things you would like to learn?
Nice to review the basics: values, composition. What is hard is to find a subject to paint and to be able to analyze it, refine it and paint it. I've had many teachers along the way. There is always somebody I meet in person or on the net to teach me something new in painting or I am re-learning anyway. Like you say it is fun painting anyway.
Where did you learn about this website?
On the web and found that you are doing a wonderful job in explaining things.

Jim McVicker: a way of seeing

Posted on September 4, 2016 at 1:39am 6 Comments

Hi to all,

I just watched this nice video on how to see things or scene we want to paint. This is NOT a methodology course but an experience from a very good painter Jim McVicker. Worth to watch. Enjoy!

here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vpgg-Pa4p0

Have a great day!

Michel

Thanks for the kind words Michel! I took the photograph last March in Cinque Terre, Italy...so beautiful there but I don't think I quite have the skills to paint that one yet.  Maybe someday!
