"Okay, I like that. The collar doesn't look like hair anymore. I'm thinking you took the photo in darker light? You seem to have lost the brilliance of the sun, but it doesn't look like you changed it by looking at the brushstrokes, so…"

Mike Price replied to George Sapper's discussion A rant
"I agree with you George.  I use mostly Liquitex so I know what to expect.  Brush sizes are my pet peeve.  A #4 for example from one manufacturer is quite different than a #4 from another."

"Thanks Karen.  Minor adjustments.  I see what you mean.  I will try add a touch of orange to my chromatic blue and use my wash brush to soften edges. This should knock it back a bit.  I'll post when I make those minor…"

Profile Information

How long have you been painting? Doing any kind of art?
Five Years. I received a cancer diagnosis prior to that and I find that painting is the perfect therapy for me. I have no background in art prior to that. I mostly do landscapes and seascapes.
What other mediums have you used?
Graphite and charcoal sketching.
Are their specific things you would like to learn?
Glazing techniques, water surfaces, composition, light, knife work.
Where did you learn about this website?
I took a tutorial from Karen on a craft site and I liked her style and teaching method. It was a tutorial where her neighborhood was the painting subject. I liked the thought processes that went into her painting. I have since watched YT videos of Karen and then I discovered this site. To me, she is to acrylics what Bob Ross was to oils.

Thank you for the friend request Mike. Also, thank you for your kind words. I picked up my brushes in March of 2013 to begin studying and learning. Now I have begun my 3rd year. Too much fun! How about you? This is not your 1st rodeo judging from the quality of your work!?! Grins,
Lynda
