The colour charts are a great place to start!  It can be quite an eye opener to discover just how many different hues and shades one can create with just a few select tube colours.

I made mine with heavy multi-media paper (from a pad), which I coated with a clear sealer to make it less absorbent.  Cut down to 8.5 x 11 they fit into page protectors for easy storage and reference.  This is a lot cheaper and less bulky than using more rigid commercial products for the base.

Karen has some nice demos to help get you started, and provides practical tips on using acrylics plus basic principles of painting in general.  We do a lot of sharing, and as Mark implied, we have a lot of fun learning from one another.
