"thank you very much for this bit of info. I use golden heavy body. I use glazing medium. I have tried other brands of paints, but I was not happy with the feel of them. I thought maybe the fluid would be useful with details like small twigs and tree…"

"Hi Wenda! I have used fluid acrylics for model train projects for quite a while, so it was almost "pre-determined" that I would play around with them on canvas.  Both Golden products have excellent pigment saturation, so a little bit…"

"Charles, do you use the fluid and high flow fluid for specific applications? I have been curious about trying them. I haven't really read up enough on them, to warrant testing them out. I have so much to learn. it is all fun stuff though :)…"

"Thanks, Charles.  I think I will try what you suggest, buy a dark and a light and check them.  I find I am always having to adjust acrylic paintings due to the darkening.  Re the Munsell system, it is helping me understand that, to…"

"Hi Elizabeth! "Acrylic" is a term rather loosely applied to a wide range of polymer emulsions, which may or may not actually contain acrylic polymers.  Acrylic polymers when wet are going to appear translucent and rather white when…"

Profile Information

How long have you been painting? Doing any kind of art?
I've been painting seriously since 2010 but dabbled before that.
What other mediums have you used?
Water mixable oils, pencil, colored pencil, watercolor (fail).
Are their specific things you would like to learn?
how to use acrylics more fully so the paintings don't look like graphic arts projects - more loose painting/blended look like oils. I like the look of oils but only have time to paint on weekends and the wait time kills me.
Where did you learn about this website?
googled acrylic painting instruction
