View from a Prickly Perch

9x12" Acrylic on stretched canvas. Cactus is surprisingly fun to paint! I also enjoyed trying to capture the light with this one.

Thank you Philippe! I grew up in Ohio and dreamed of living in Colorado after spending a little time as a kid out this way visiting my grandparents. I feel incredibly blessed and privileged to be able to live in this amazing place!

Ouch! lol In spite of these spines your painting is very inviting. I love the distant mountains.

How Lucky you are to live near such a beautiful place!

Thank you all for the kind remarks! Mark you made me laugh :-). Perhaps not the most inviting painting with all those spikes in the foreground!!! I seem to be drawn to cactus, for some reason. Maybe that says something about my personality!?!?! Ha!

Susan - this gorgeous view point is at Ridgway State Park in SW Colorado. The distant mountain range the incredible San Juans! I live about 25 min North.

Very nice. Love how you rendered some every nice detail but still kept it soft and beautiful.

Corgi this is such a great painting. I LOVE the cactus you captured.  The mountains in the distance look good as well as the water.  What State is this scene?

Beautiful Corri! Your values are spot on and love the reds and highlights on the cactus, made me hesitate to touch my screen to enlarge it! lol!

Beautiful, Corri.  I love the bright color of the cactus and the way that color is reflected in the distant mountains.  What a great painting!
