Tulips

Tulips in acrylic on Yupo paper that has a background of black gesso. Make it difficult to get any light coming through the petals. There's probably a way to do this when painting on black, but it was beyond me lol.

I love your experimenting! But they do look very light against the black! You could always do another layer of paint to cover the black a bit more.

Oh, and Linda, yes acrylic paints to have transparent colors! Different colors vary quite a bit in their transparency.

One of my favorite flowers - yellow tulips.  You have done a beautiful job, Wanda. I like the light you have put into it and the texture.  Beautiful!

Hi Wanda -

I saw a recent video that covered this type of composition.  They suggested doing an undercoat of titanium white where you will be placing the brightest colours.  This gives a nice base for using transparent colours and glazes in particular, and is especially useful for back lighted translucent subjects.

Just wondering if acrylic paints have transparent colors...but regardless, this is lovely!
