Succulent Still Life Study

Thought I'd try my hand at painting a still life, something I've always avoided for some reason. Challenging but fun. I think I may do more.

This is wonderful David. I love painting still life but usually avoid complicated subjects for fear I will get bored and not finish the painting Nicely done! I especially love your fabric. Your use of light and shadow is brilliant

Nice job David. Beautiful light. So realistic that it made my mouth water!

Wow. Ditto everything already said, and love the colours. Great light.

This is really outstanding David.  I love  everything about it right down to the reflected fruit in the vase. I've been working on still life set ups and can say "it ain't easy". You've nailed it!! Great work!

Thank you for the nice comments. Wenda, I staged the scene on one of the roll around adjustable height tables that hospitals use to serve your meals in bed. Cost $50 on Amazon. Took a lot of photos of varying placement of the objects. I liked this arrangement and lighting the best so I used the photo to work from.

Very nice David, great fruit and I especially  like the subtle shading to the table cloth.

Worthy of a Flemish School master! I don't know what I love the best. Pearhaps the folds on the cloth.

Wow ! (I forgot to mention my first reaction)

This is beautiful, David. The grapes and the orange look so real. Well done!
