Old Corn Barn

I needed a project for yesterday's art group, so I chose to do charcoal using a photo from PMP as my reference of an old barn in Almont, Michigan. I did most of it yesterday in the two hour art group session and then finished it off this morning. This would be a good value sketch to use for a doing an acrylic painting. I would have to make up the colour, as the ref photo is in black and white.

This would be a great challenge. Paint from Wanda's sketch and make up the colors. This is very beautiful. I wish I could draw like this.

Yes, charcoal is great for really focusing on values, isn't it? I can really see the sunlight on that barn. Great job Wanda!

Wanda, once again you amaze. What a wonderful charcoal sketch. The values are wonderful and the details in the barn are striking. So well done!

Wanda, I just posted a sketch that I did, talking about thinking of value and composition prior to doing the actual painting.  And here you are doing the same thing.  And I LOVE this sketch!  Wow!  Love old barns, and this is just SUPERB in every respect.  Love the shadows, the added interest of the few small windows on the barn, the trees are so nice to look at, the old growth of vines and twigs in the front of the barn.  Nice going!
