I thought I'd paint this impressionist style... but just gave up halfway through. It was soooo hard... probably one of the hardest things I've ever done... it's right up there with parallel parking, hehe! This is acrylic on a 16 x 20 canvas panel.

Malou - I think this came out so well!  You have a style all your own and this is absolutely beautiful.

But it's wonderful!

Hi Linda.  Haha, you're so funny!  I've been busy with dance recitals (the nail on my big toe just died from tap dancing, boo-hoo!) so I haven't had much time to paint.  Aren't these painting challenges loads of fun??  When we're "challenged", we try to do our best... we learn... and the words of encouragement from everyone just make us want to be better.  Thank you.

I am SO with Lynda Dinneen....there would be rear end crashes in the gallery!  This painting is AWESOME!!  So glad to see your name and face up here - it's been awhile. Now I know why, you've been busy painting up a storm. This is an outstanding painting and I love your interpretation of the scene. Great job!!  Now I want to see more of your recent works!

Lynda and Gary, all my doubts about this painting have suddenly disappeared.  You have made me feel more confident about what I can do.  Maraming salamat!  That's "many thanks" in Tagalog.

Hi Malou! If all of our pieces for this challenge were hung in a gallery and we could walk through that space enjoying the whole show, when I came to this one of yours I would stop dead in my tracks and stay for a long while just looking at it! This has all the bells and whistles! What a grand job you have done with an oh-so-difficult technique!!!! Beautiful!!!

I think you have done a good job.

I agree with John

Thanks, John and Corri, for your very encouraging comments.  You're so much nicer than my daughter who asked, "Why is it polka-dotted?"  Haaaah!

I'm not sure why you gave up Malou! I think your version of the challenge is beautiful! First, I LOVE the red boat! As far as the rest of the painting, the colors are beautiful and it has such a lovely soft quality. I would put it aside for a while and consider coming back to it at some point, it really is lovely!
