Learn to paint in Acrylic paints - Step by Step
As I continue to learn more about using soft pastels, I watched a speed demo by Bethany Fields and even though I did not have the buttery soft pastels or sanded paper I thought I'd give it a go anyway. I used a piece of watercolour paper and applied Liquitex clear gesso (which has a sandy grit to it). Then I just went with my hard pastels and applied Isopropyl alcohol over the first layer. Second layer I used Liquitex acrylic inks on some of the tree shadows. Then for the remaining layers used my hard and not quite soft pastels. So for a test piece, I was very happy with the outcome. It is a weird size: 3" x 12"
