Love this one Karen.  Who wouldn't want to live there?  You always achieve such good color and softness.

Thanks Wanda - not that big of brushes! :) To block in the basic shapes and values I used a flat brush about 1/2" wide. On this size canvas - 9" x 12" I used smaller brushes as well, down to tiny rounds and a liner for points of color.

I think the key is to use larger brushes whenever you are painting a larger area, and to stick with the larger brushes as long as you can.

Thanks you Marion, Ian and Sarah! You should give it a try Ian!

Its amazing Karen how you Grab the tree, tone down prominent shapes and   produce a bright colourful painting. I like the series so far. Makes me think about having a go atpainting our own 90yer old bungalow we have here in Auckland.

Love your house series Karen. I really like how you changed the detail of the front area leading up to the house - it actually looks a lot nicer than the real life version.

When you say using a bigger brushes...what size are you using.

On Sunday I attended a demo on acrylic painting with big brushes by Mac Grieve. He used a 2" brush to do about 90% of an impressionistic landscape painting and I was blown away. So will be trying my hand at this as soon as I finish my 4 works in progress that I have sitting here right now.

Cheers, Wanda
