What are the best colors to use to get skin tones?

Comment by Cindy Burke on July 19, 2015 at 9:23am

I uploaded a photo, but it came out distorted, so I uploaded it again cropped, and it looks better. How do I delete the other photo?

How do I get my photos added to my page and into my album without re-appearing in the latest ativity column?

Hi Trina,

I use Photo Shop, there is a simple version called Elements that was somewhat reasonably priced and does everything I need it to do.

Yes Lucia, that is the same thing. What a long name it has! You will only find this color in Golden brand paints as they developed it. I haven't found a good substitute in color and transparency

I have been looking for quinacridone azo gold and what I find is quinacridone nickel azo gold. Is this the same thing? Is there anything I can substitute for it? Thank you!

Thank you young lady and have a great day Karen

Hi Paul,

The Site will only allow you to post 3 photos a day. This gives us a chance to see them all, and not fill up the site too fast.

You can upload more the next day though!

I have something called azo yellow. It's quite a dark yellow.

And also Indian yellow which is a dark yellow.

Are they close?

Hi Barbara,

Yes Quin Gold is only found in Golden brand colors. So it is available online, but not everywhere locally. Sometimes Michael's will have it. The thing I love about it is that it is basically a dark, transparent yellow gold. So it mixes really nicely with other colors without making mud. And is a great addition to green mixtures for lovely warm greens.

I haven't really found a good substitute. Burnt Sienna is similar in that it is an earthy tone, but it is redder and more opaque. And because of the reddish tone it just greys down your greens.

Yellow ochre would probably be a little closer. It too is much more opaque, but at least it is more of a dark yellow.

sorry to not be of more help. You can get by without it for sure. If I had to pick one it would probably be the yellow ochre...

Is there a mix I can use for Quinacridone Azo Gold? I can't find it here in my town. I know it won't have the same composition but maybe a fair substitute?

What's new?
