Did this one a while back but never posted. It's random. I took the photo on a visit to Florida. Something about it just struck me as interesting. 16x20 acrylic on stretched canvas...

Yes!!  Apart from the relaxing setting, scenes like this need a focus.  You have provided that in a very dramatic manner - the large red beach umbrella and smaller points of red and yellow contrast with the overall cool tones and bring the scene to life.  Nice one, Brad!

Thank you, Charles!

I like it!

It is interesting that you left out the people. When I look at the reference photo what strikes me is that monolithic tree trunk standing up there with all the people around it. Someone has set it up like that because it wouldn't have grown in the sand. It just seems like a big monument to nature or something. It's greys a real contrast against all the brightly colored people and umbrellas. That's the story I see in the image anyway :)

oh I see now, it's the remnants of an old pier!

Yes there was quite a debate in my mind about people vs no people. Ultimately I decided that I wanted to try and convey a calm, tranquil scene as if maybe you were the first one to arrive and discover this spot...
